I was contracted by start up Elyah to design a set of 29
UI icons for their ‘Workbench’ Quantum Computer tool.
Workbench is a platform that empowers people to
understand what it’s like to program a Quantum Computer.
Client:
Elyah
Role:
Freelance Visual Designer
Mood-board, colour explorations, and mockups was provided for the initial first draft.
Because the brief was very open I wanted to provide various different
designs to narrow down the design direction, afterwards refining
the icons to be more practical and feasible.
Early icon experiments and notes.
We decided to stick to a colour palette with a
low blue tone similar to the circuit interface.
The goal was to make the user feel comfortable programming for long
periods of time on the interface, careful
not to strain the their eyes.
Below are some samples of the final handover
files from the Icon Guide.
The icon characters was customised to
better suit the Elyah team's desired
result of uniformity in shape.
